You still need the official drivers

The order that works, every time:

1. Official TC-Helicon drivers.
2. GoXLR Utility.
3. Then plug the device in.

Getting that order wrong is the single most common reason a fresh Windows install shows “device not found”. If you’re already stuck there, or you’re hitting a Dice driver error, unplug the mixer, reinstall the drivers cleanly, and only then plug it back in.

Why swap out the official app

• Your profiles come with you. Same profile format, so years of presets carry over intact — and back again if you switch back.
• No account, no telemetry. It talks to your mixer and nothing else.
• It’s scriptable. A local API and a full CLI, so a hotkey can switch profiles mid-game. There’s Stream Deck integration too.
• Two devices, one window — plus remote access when the GoXLR is on another machine on your network.
• Open source, MIT. You can read what’s running on your machine.

Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. Either grab the installer or use winget:

The bit Windows users actually want: hotkeys

Alongside goxlr-client there’s goxlr-client-quiet, which takes the same arguments but spawns no console window and prints nothing. That distinction matters more than it sounds — bound to a hotkey during a fullscreen game, the ordinary binary’s console flash steals focus.

Paired with AutoHotkey it gives you a key that swaps between headphones and speakers, saving the current profile on the way out. Working scripts here, including a single key that toggles by asking the daemon which profile is loaded.

Firmware

The Utility can update GoXLR firmware from version 1.2.0 onwards. If you move to the Mix 2 firmware on the beta channel, Windows needs a matching driver — the app links it when required. Channels, steps and the risks.
